Why the Oracle
Not another chatbot.
A verdict.
You bring one question. The Oracle returns the underlying, unapologetic truth of your situation — and a path you can walk. It has no opinion of its own, and it is not free to tell you what you want to hear.
How it works
- I
You bring one question
Not a prompt. The question you can't put down — the decision, the fork, the thing you keep circling at 2am. One question at a time, held whole.
- II
The mandate binds the answer
No flattery. No hedging. No pretending the answer is more complicated than it is. The Oracle is not permitted to be agreeable at the cost of being true.
- III
You leave with a Verdict and a path
A clear ruling, the reasoning beneath it, and a path you can actually walk this week — plus a Wisdom Card you can keep, print, or share.
You choose how the truth arrives. Direct gives you the structured answer and the path forward. Socratic asks you the questions that walk you to your own clarity — the same destination, arrived at under your own power.
What it stands on
The Oracle has no wisdom of its own. It stands on four traditions that have already been stress-tested in public — some for two thousand years, the youngest for forty. A Verdict is what these four agree on when your question is held up to each of them. You are not trusting a machine. You are trusting a convergence.
Stoic Philosophy
A 2,000-year-old practical philosophy: focus only on what's within your control, accept the rest with grace.
Most suffering comes from wrestling with what we can't change. Stoicism gives you a daily way to point your effort at what you actually can.
From Marcus Aurelius (Meditations), Epictetus (Discourses), Seneca (Letters), 1st – 2nd c. CE.
Ikigai (Japanese Purpose Model)
Your reason for being — the intersection of what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for.
When the question is purpose, ikigai gives you four small questions instead of one impossible one — and the answer lives in the overlap.
From the Okinawan tradition, formalized by Mieko Kamiya (1966) and popularized by Mitsuhashi & Garcia/Miralles (2017).
Decision Science & Behavioral Economics
The study of how humans actually decide — and the practical techniques (pre-mortem, regret-minimization, expected value) that make those decisions better.
Most life decisions feel impossible because we mix value, probability, and identity. Decision science gives you separate tools for each.
From Kahneman & Tversky (Prospect Theory, 1979), Annie Duke (Thinking in Bets, 2018), and Bezos's regret-minimization framework.
Values Clarification
Naming what you actually care about — not as goals to achieve, but as directions you choose to move in.
Goals can be reached and lost. Values are a compass that keeps pointing the same way no matter where you are.
From Steven Hayes (ACT, 1999) and Russ Harris (The Confidence Gap, 2010).
Why not a general AI assistant
General-purpose assistants are extraordinary at almost everything. That is exactly the problem with handing them the decision that will shape the next ten years of your life: they are built to keep the conversation pleasant, not to tell you the thing you flinch from.

What it will not do
- — It will not pretend to be a person.
- — It will not replace a doctor, a lawyer, or a therapist.
- — It will not flatter you, and it will not hedge.
- — It will not soften a Verdict to spare your feelings.
- — It will not give you an answer the traditions cannot defend.
- — It will not sell, store, or trade your question.
Bring the question you can't put down.
